Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 May 2026

EaseWake is a local alarm app. We respect your privacy by not collecting it.

Data controller

Responsible for data processing within the meaning of Art. 4(7) GDPR:

What we don't do

  • We don't directly collect any personal data.
  • We don't operate a server. The app never sends your data anywhere.
  • We don't use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
  • We don't ask for an account, email, or password.
  • We don't process personal data within the meaning of Art. 4(1) GDPR through the app itself.

What stays on your device

Your alarms, nudge configurations, sound choices, and onboarding state are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's standard SwiftData and UserDefaults frameworks. This data never leaves your device. If you delete the app, this data is permanently removed.

What Apple sees

EaseWake uses AlarmKit, Apple's system alarm framework. Apple — not us — handles the actual alarm scheduling, fire delivery, and Lock-Screen presentation. Apple's privacy policy applies to that part. AlarmKit runs locally on your device; we never send your alarm data to Apple.

Apple App Analytics (optional, opt-in)

If you have enabled "Share with App Developers" in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple shares aggregated, anonymized crash and usage statistics with us. This data is technically and legally anonymized by Apple before we receive it. We cannot identify individual users from this data. You can disable this setting in iOS at any time.

Legal basis (where applicable): Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in identifying app crashes and improving stability. Since the data is anonymized at source by Apple, no personal data within the meaning of GDPR is processed by us.

TestFlight beta participation

If you join EaseWake through Apple's TestFlight beta program, Apple shares additional data with us per Apple's TestFlight terms: tester email address (provided by you to Apple), crash logs, feedback submissions, app usage time, and device type. This data is processed solely for the purpose of beta testing and is deleted after the beta phase. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of the testing agreement you enter with us through TestFlight participation.

Production users from the App Store release are not affected.

Your rights under GDPR

Even though we do not directly process personal data through the app, the following rights apply to any data that may reach us (e.g., via TestFlight or App Analytics):

  • Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)

To exercise these rights, contact us at the email address above.

Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent authority for Austria is:

Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde
Barichgasse 40-42
1030 Vienna, Austria

dsb.gv.at

California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

Although we do not meet the applicability thresholds of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), we believe California residents should know:

  • We do not sell or share personal information.
  • We do not collect "sensitive personal information" as defined by CPRA.
  • We do not engage in targeted advertising.
  • The rights granted by CCPA / CPRA — to know, delete, correct, and opt-out of sale or sharing — are functionally satisfied by the fact that we do not collect personal data through the app.

To exercise any rights you believe apply, contact us at the email address above.

To remove all data

Because we don't collect or store data on our side, the only step needed to remove all EaseWake-related data is to delete the app from your iPhone. This removes all local data permanently.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, the updated version will appear here with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will trigger an in-app notice on next launch.
